SunRADON Continuous Radon Monitors are used every day by professionals to test air quality in homes, schools, workplaces and healthcare facilities. In 2018, SunRADON monitors collected more than 50 million hours of Radon test data. Sun Nuclear also provides innovative solutions for Radiation Therapy, Diagnostic Imaging, and Patient Alignment. Our mission is to enable healthier lives by improving the detection and treatment of cancer. More than 5,000 cancer centers worldwide rely on us for independent, integrated Quality Management. With a focus on ongoing support, we aim to ease technology adoption, enhance workflows and improve outcomes – so that healthcare providers can achieve real results for Patient Safety.


Goal

To develop a robust platform to streamline the collection of radon data transmitted from professional tester devices. The platform will enable Sun Nuclear and their network of professional testers to manage, track and analyze inspections with custom analytic reports and location data plotted on a map. Further, the platform will provide for two way calibration tracking, auditing and syncing with a CRM ensuring the radon devices are always up to date and performing optimally. All of the important device license and inspection data will be stored in the blockchain offering the highest level of traceability and security.


Challenge

The client has tens of thousands of remote radon devices out in the field without an effective means to automatically collect, normalize and aggregate the valuable data contained within each local inspection report. Internally, the client stored all of the device license information within SalesForce CRM and also had no way to effectively map and associate each license to an individual device remotely.

Finally, the professional testers in the field required a local connection to the radon device and had no way to manage their client inspection reports from a remote location. They needed a more efficient way to manage their customers, reports, photos, and invoices.


Blockchain Solution

Sun Nuclear used Augusta’s “Innovation as a Service” to develop the industry’s first cloud-based radon detection analytics and CRM platform built on HyperLedger blockchain.

Augusta recreated the entire inspection user experience initially built using a QT programming language, on the web. All of the complex radon calculations and algorithms were included. The Bluetooth and wifi enabled solution extracts inspection data from thousands of radon devices, aggregates, and stores the data in the cloud, and automatically synchronizes with the proper tester account and license information.

Professional radon testers can now manage their clients and inspections in the cloud and Sun Nuclear can automatically aggregate all of the device data with custom analytics providing them a holistic view of the entire network of devices and their current status.
