Backend Developer — .NET / C#

What you will do

• Design and build RESTful APIs in ASP.NET Core that serve our React frontend.

• Own the API contract: clear OpenAPI specs, versioned endpoints, consistent request and response shapes.

• Model and query data with EF Core, and drop to SQL when the query demands it.

• Implement authentication and authorization — JWT, OAuth2/OIDC, role and policy-based access.

• Write tests that matter: unit tests for logic, integration tests against a real database.

• Diagnose and fix performance problems, from N+1 queries to caching strategy.

• Partner with frontend engineers on endpoint design so pages load in one request, not nine.

What we are looking for

• 3+ years in .NET. Strong C# and ASP.NET Core, including async/await, dependency injection, middleware, and both controller-based and Minimal APIs.

• REST fluency. You know when to use POST vs PUT vs PATCH, how to paginate, and why ProblemDetails beats a custom error blob.

• EF Core in production. LINQ, migrations, change tracking, and the judgment to know when the ORM is the wrong tool.

• Real SQL skills. Indexing, execution plans, transactions. Comfortable reading a slow query and knowing why it is slow.

• Security fundamentals. Token handling, CORS, OWASP API risks, rate limiting.

• Frontend empathy. You do not need to write React, but you should be able to read it and understand how the frontend consumes what you build.

• Testing discipline. xUnit or NUnit, mocking, and integration testing with WebApplicationFactory or Testcontainers.

• Tooling. Docker, Git, and a CI/CD pipeline you have actually maintained.

• CQRS, MediatR, or vertical slice architecture

• SignalR for real-time features

• Message queues — RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, Kafka

• Cloud deployment on Azure or AWS

• Redis, background job frameworks (Hangfire, Quartz)

• Structured logging and observability — Serilog, OpenTelemetry

• TypeScript, and experience generating typed clients from OpenAPI
